So, here are a few tips to help you avoid that dreaded hangover:
1.
Line your stomach with some
food. – Have a meal before you go out, the food on the lining of your stomach
will absorb the alcohol.
2.
Drink some water. – Have a glass of water with every drink. This
will help with the amount of alcohol you drink and the speed that you drink it
because alcohol makes you thirsty. Also, try drinking a pint of water before
you go to bed at night.
3.
Drink ‘light’ drinks. – There
are toxic chemicals (congeners) which contribute to hangovers. Red wine and brandy are ‘dark’ drinks. Vodka
and gin are ‘light’ drinks; this is because these drinks are purified by
distillation*.*But of course, you’ll still have a hangover if you drink too
many :D
4.
Don’t drink too much champagne! – You’ll get
light head faster drink it than you would by drinking the same amount of wine. Also,
studies have shown that after drinking fizzy champagne, you’ll have a higher
level of alcohol in the blood than you would when drinking the flat stuff.
5.
Don’t drink coffee! – Don’t
drink tea or coffee, it won’t sober you up. It won’t make you feel better the
next day either. Caffeine will dehydrate and irritate your bowel.
6.
Take some Paracetamol – take
paracetamol with water and try not to mix it with caffeine. The combination of
pain killers, caffeine and the alcohol left over in your body could lead to
liver damage.
7.
Have some sugar – If you feel
shaky, it’s because there is a lack of sugar in your blood. Eating toast and
honey and drinking a glass of pure juice will help this.
8.
Calm your stomach – If you feel
nauseates, try eating some bland, dry toast or try taking some Metilium to
help your stomach. Also, try not to eat cerea; because the fat content in milk
can just upset your stomach.
9.
Avoid a Fry-Up breakfast! –
Alcohol causes your blood sugar level to drop and digesting fatty food will put
strain on the digestive system which is all ready stressed. Try something like
scrambled eggs on toast instead.
10.
Go for a walk – The oxygen
increases the rate that the toxins from alcohol are broken down.
11.
And of course, THERE’S ALWAYS
IRN BRU! :D
