How To make Vodka Jelly - over 18s

Fancy making some vodka jellies to enjoy the easter festivities then why not try out this recipe. Over 18s only

Ingredients:
Fruit jelly (choose your flavour preference – Strawberry, Rasberry, Orange or Lime work well)
Vodka (cheap or quality brand Vodka, either will do)
Boiled Water Cold Water

There are many suggested ways to make Vodka Jelly on the internet but this method has given the best results. Mix the jelly as recomended on the packaging but only using 3/4 or 75% of the recommended liquid.

If a pint of water is recommended then follow this process to make your Vodka Jelly.
  • Boil 1/4 pint of water and mix the jelly in a bowl. Add 1/4 pint of Vodka to 1/4 pint of cold water in a container.
  • Let the jelly mix cool slightly before pouring in the Vodka and cold water.(To prevent the alcohol evaporating)
  • Pour the finished Vodka Jelly mix into your chosen containers. Containers can be ice cube containers, shot glasses, paper cups, ice cube bags or even a Vodka Jelly Bowl.
  • The container needs to be placed into the fridge to set.
  • The time to set Vodka Jelly will depend on your fridge temperature, the amount of vodka in the Vodka Jelly, and the size of the containers.
Ideally it is best letting the Vodka Jelly set overnight or at least a few hours.

WARNING: Do not drive after eating this – very small amounts can make you light-headed.
Be careful not to leave Vodka Jelly in the fridge where children can get it. The Vodka Jelly looks like normal jelly but is defenitely not for consumption by children.

How To dance the moonwalk

The Moonwalk was a factor in what set Michael apart and clearly in a league of his own in the realm of superstardom. Michael did not invent the move, but perfected it and made it his own.
The moonwalk is a kind of an illusion and requires a lot of practice.
Below are the best Moonwalk instructions I could find so why not have some fun and give it a try?

The moonwalk step by step :

Step 1. Find a pair of low grip shoes you could try to do it in your socks to start off with.

Step 2. Make sure that the ground you use to practise to moonwalk on is also not too grippy, try and find a polished floor.

Step 3. Stand with both feet close to each other, left foot slightly ahead of the right (toes of right should be in line with half the left foot)

Step 4. Now raise the heel of the right foot so that you are standing on the front of the right foot as if you are taking a step. The left foot must stay where it is (take care not to move it).

Step 5. As you lower the heel of the right foot, lean all your weight on the right foot, and drag back the left foot to so that its toes are in line with the heel of the right foot. The left foot's heel must be slightly off the ground at this stage. As you drag back, do not push down on the left foot at all or it will not glide. Make sure as you lower the heel of the right foot (slowly) the left moves at an equal speed. This will need lots of practice to master the right speed.

Step 6. Keep practicing up to the above steps until you can make the movement subconsciously without any difficulty.

Step 7. Once you have mastered that, "kick" outwards with the left foot, but although not quite touching the ground, make it look as if it is touching. Move it out a foot-size's worth away from the toes of the right. No part of the left foot should be raised higher than another.

Step 8. After you make your left foot move so it is at the starting position, lift up the heel once more of the right foot. Make sure the left leg is bent at the knee. Now repeat step 5. Keep practicing until you have the whole thing figured out, and it has been verified by others, and you feel quite comfortable with it. You should eventually get that gravity-defying effect and you'll Moonwalk like the pro.

Step 9. Once you've figured it out for the right leg bending, switch legs, and try the same with the other foot. Lift heel of left, lower left as you glide right back. Left still on the ground, throw out right foot, lift up heel of left foot, and once again drag right foot back as left heel is lowered.

As with any dance move it takes practice, practice practise. Michael was well known to have a lot of natural talent as a dancer. However he also had the total dedication to put in hours and hours of practice.
Try it and send us a video!
It’s not that complicated, even a cute pony can do it!

How To avoid a hangover

Are you going out tonight? Are you gonna get smashed and feel like crap the next day? We’ve all been there! :D
So, here are a few tips to help you avoid that dreaded hangover:

1.       Line your stomach with some food. – Have a meal before you go out, the food on the lining of your stomach will absorb the alcohol.

2.       Drink some water.  – Have a glass of water with every drink. This will help with the amount of alcohol you drink and the speed that you drink it because alcohol makes you thirsty. Also, try drinking a pint of water before you go to bed at night.

3.       Drink ‘light’ drinks. – There are toxic chemicals (congeners) which contribute to hangovers.  Red wine and brandy are ‘dark’ drinks. Vodka and gin are ‘light’ drinks; this is because these drinks are purified by distillation*.*But of course, you’ll still have a hangover if you drink too many :D

4.        Don’t drink too much champagne! – You’ll get light head faster drink it than you would by drinking the same amount of wine. Also, studies have shown that after drinking fizzy champagne, you’ll have a higher level of alcohol in the blood than you would when drinking the flat stuff.

5.       Don’t drink coffee! – Don’t drink tea or coffee, it won’t sober you up. It won’t make you feel better the next day either. Caffeine will dehydrate and irritate your bowel.

6.       Take some Paracetamol – take paracetamol with water and try not to mix it with caffeine. The combination of pain killers, caffeine and the alcohol left over in your body could lead to liver damage.

7.       Have some sugar – If you feel shaky, it’s because there is a lack of sugar in your blood. Eating toast and honey and drinking a glass of pure juice will help this.

8.       Calm your stomach – If you feel nauseates, try eating some bland, dry toast or try taking some Metilium to help your stomach. Also, try not to eat cerea; because the fat content in milk can just upset your stomach.

9.       Avoid a Fry-Up breakfast! – Alcohol causes your blood sugar level to drop and digesting fatty food will put strain on the digestive system which is all ready stressed. Try something like scrambled eggs on toast instead.

10.   Go for a walk – The oxygen increases the rate that the toxins from alcohol are broken down.

11.   And of course, THERE’S ALWAYS IRN BRU! :D

So keeps this in mind when you’re out tonight and drink responsibly !
